Experience the Divine in Fiber Art
Timeless Art While Seeking the Divine
Some arts never lose their charm. Fiber arts are not a lost art, but they have diminished with time. This is my journey in engaging the timeless art of fiber preparation (washing, carding, combing, blending), spinning, dying, crocheting, and knitting as a pastoring person in my community. Join me in the journey as I center myself in the art, and seek the divine in the process.

Julie Kelly
Artist Bio
My title may be "Reverend" but I am always just, "Julie." I am lucky enough to be both a pastor and a fiber artist. I often meditate and pray as I spin, knit, or comb fiber. My art is expression of my faith journey- always being created and renewed.
I began knitting in earnest in 2016 and in early 2019, began spinning and preparing fibers for spinning. That is where my joy really found it's root.
In 8 months I have procured 17 fleeces and processed the vast majority of them into spinnable fiber. My goal is to keep learning as I go. This site is an easy way to share with the curious about what I do and how it all works. So join me on the journey.

Fair Isle Mitts
These simple Fair Isle style mitts where a joy to knit up. My sister fell in love with the colors- as they really do look like the Chargers. So they went to her.

Sipila Sweater
Sipila was my first color work sweater. Designer Caitlin Hunter can be found on Ravelry with the link below. This sweater uses cascade fingering and Manos del Uruguay yarns.

Pretty with Jeans Cardigan
This orange striped cardigan is designed by Stephanie Lotvan using Numa yarn (Orange) and 2 shades by Lazer Sheep Yarns https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/pretty-with-jeans

Shetland Wool Nests
Wool from Shetland sheep that I have scoured, combed and dizzed into nests ready to be spun.

Starting Point Wrap
Worked up to use a skein I called "melted crayon," this wrap is the most used in my closet. And to think, I hated it mid way through and thought I would give it away.

Walnut Wool Mitts
Brenden found his hands chilled while sitting at his desk doing school work. So I surprised him with some lovely wool mitts.

Pocket Shawl
I bought the yarn for this while in Minnesota for my graduation from Seminary. It took a while, but eventually this adorable shawl was the final product.

Warm blue mitts
knit up in an unknown fiber, these mitts are as soft as alpaca and well fitted.
